The first trimester of this second pregnancy hit me hard, harder than I anticipated and I felt myself pull back from creating, social media, really everything. Cocooned inside a snow globe, in the cold, just to survive being a pregnant mom to a very energetic toddler. I had zero desire to create, paint, really do anything. And although it was a little alarming, I decided to just sit with it; hoping my creativity would return if I just gave myself some space.

But then spring arrived. And with it, plenty of time outside. Outside is where my daughter and I connect. We learn and play and discover. It's her favorite place and where I draw a lot of my inspiration. So when I picked up a new type of brush in late May, I started with nature. Originally I had planned a whole nature-themed collection but butterflies took hold and I ran with it. In them, I saw myself. We came out of the cocoon of winter and I was beginning my own big transformation as was our family. And that feeling of excitement came back. The feeling of having a small idea and turning it into something tangible, nostalgic and heirloom. That feeling of being ok to make ugly art and see what beautiful things can come from it.

Waiting in the Wings invites you to embrace the whimsy, color and the beauty in life. Through bright colors and flowing movement captured in heirloom-style framing, this collection is a celebration seasons, of spending a summer morning outside and to embrace transformation no matter how scary the unknown can be.

I hope this collection acts as a reminder of those things, and brings a sense of wonder to your spaces to be enjoyed today and for years to come.
